Just a few words about NSW AEPMA Life Member Tom Nicol’s Funeral held on 29 July 2016 at Mona Vale which my wife Annmaree and I attended along with a good representation of the NSW Pest Management Industry including Mr Peter Meadows (Life Member) and his wife Dot, Mrs Rhonda Trotter (partner of Mr Malcolm Trotter also Life Member), Mr Brett Black, Mr Ed Covey, Mr Geoff Bryce, Mr Eris Hess, Mr Greg Moon (Life Member), Mr Graham Hellier and I am sure I missed some people.
Mr Ross Nicol (one of Tom’s sons) read some very touching words from Mr Brian Inall (another AEPMA Life member). Mr Peter Still (retired ex Bayer NSW Rep) delivered a great and emotional speech about Tom's Life both in the Army and in the Pest Management Industry.
In his own ways, Tom made huge contributions to AEPMA both at National and NSW levels which will never be forgotten. Tom survived tour of duties in both Korea and Vietnam which made him a very tough character. But under this tough character there was a loveable, generous man with a heart of gold.
Rest in peace old mate and, I am sure you will be missed by all, who have served with you at AEPMA.
A small reminder that the next AEPMA NSW ACT State Council meeting will be on Monday 17 October 2016 at the offices of Ensystex at Auburn. As usual, if you have any Pest Management matters you would like to have discussed, or you would like to attend a State Council meeting, please feel free to contact me or any of the other council members.
I expect a fair amount of the meeting to be again dedicated to what should be required for Licencing in NSW. If you have any thoughys on this issue, please send us a few notes for the meeting. This subject is so important given the direction the Pest Management Industry is moving towards with the recent release of the new Training Package and the upcoming new Codes of practice. It is essential for licencing to also be tidied up.
I would also take the opportunity to remind you that if you have not yet booked for the FAOPMA conference on 14-16 September 2016 at Sea World, on the Gold Coast, then you should give it some thought now. With a title like “Solving Pest Problems”, a myriad of world class presentations, Trade show, Gala dinner, and great venue, there will not be another conference of this kind in Australia for a few years.
It is a great chance to network with Industry leaders from both Australia and overseas, see all your supplier representatives and their product displays under the same roof.
Hopefully, I get the chance to have a drink with you there!!
So don’t delay and book now…at aepma.com.au/conference or contact the National office on 1300 307 114 or email: info@aepma.com.au
