AEPMA members are required to maintain adequate insurance appropriate to the nature and scope of their business activities.
As part of the membership application and renewal process, members must provide evidence of current insurance cover through a valid Certificate of Currency (or equivalent self-insurance arrangements where applicable).
Professional Indemnity insurance is particularly important for businesses undertaking inspections, reporting and advisory services, while Public Liability insurance provides protection in relation to property damage and personal injury claims arising from business operations.
Recognising the diversity of services provided by pest management businesses across Australia, AEPMA does not prescribe rigid insurance requirements based on business size or structure. Members are responsible for ensuring that their level of cover is appropriate to their individual circumstances, contractual obligations and the services they provide.
As a guide, many AEPMA members maintain Professional Indemnity cover of at least $500,000 and Public Liability cover of $3 million or more, with higher levels of cover often required for government contracts and larger commercial engagements.
Members are encouraged to seek independent advice from their insurance provider or broker to confirm that their policy specifically covers pest management activities and that their level of protection remains suitable for their business needs.
