Dear Member
It is with pleasure that I report to you on the activities of your Association and the exciting developments that are being worked on by your peers in the industry.
As you are all aware, in September, the FAOPMA National Conference is to be hosted by AEPMA at Sea World on the Gold Coast. The venue is exciting, the program is exciting and all pest managers who have the opportunity to attend, will I am sure not only have a good time but find the whole exercise stimulating and interesting in terms of finding out what is happening with regard to technology, and policy developments regarding the managed pest control industry in both Australia and overseas.
Part and parcel of the conference will be the release of AEPMA’s recently drafted codes of practice in respect of a Code of Practice for Termite Management during new construction, a Code of Practice for Termite Management and a Code of Practice for Training in Pest Management. These draft codes of practice in themselves would be interesting enough for the business owner of a pest control company. However the program of FAOPMA goes far beyond these codes of practice. It involves a combination of technical, marketing and information on the most up to date pest control techniques.
I look forward to seeing as many members as possible at the FAOPMA gathering as I have no doubt in suggesting that it will be one of the most successful FAOPMA/AEPMA organised conferences for a number of years.
Your association currently is in a sound position and continues to attract members. And why wouldn’t a pest control company join AEPMA? Our website alone is responsible for thousands of enquiries from members of the public. These enquiries are channelled to members via the association’s website. More and more professional organisations are demanding that their pest controller to be an AEPMA member in order to satisfy tender and technical requirements.
Currently, AEPMA is also involved in the review of regulations and licensing in both QLD and NSW and we hope to ensure that any new regulations are helpful and supportive of our existing industry.
In recent months, your association has also been active in social media on Facebook, Linkedin and the use of Google Adwords to enhance the AEPMA website to members of the public. We continue to monitor and adapt our campaigns depending on results but this to date has been an extremely cost effective way to encourage members of the public to find AEPMA members.
I am pleased to say that following the election of the new Board, your Executive Committee has not been idle and a further strategic planning workshop is to be held in Sydney in October to further plan the Association’s development for the next five years. The industry’s motto continues to be ‘if you want the best in pest control, then you must have an AEPMA member.’ We are continuing to work on and roll out services that ensure that AEPMA members are the best equipped, and the most recommended by their peers and members of the public, so as to ensure that the professional pest control industry grows and prospers alongside your membership of AEPMA.
I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at FAOPMA 2016. Please do not hesitate to introduce yourself to me and other members of the AEPMA Board at what will be a highly informative and a well-attended conference.
Vasili Tsoutouras
President, AEPMA
