NSW State Council meet in Hawks Nest

Posted on: 26/02/2015

As AEPMA NSW ACT State Council Chairman, it was a pleasure to welcome two of our Life Members to the 7 February meeting at Hawks Nest on the beautiful Mid North Coast of NSW.  Mr Brian Inall (Ex Check Pest Control) from Canberra, ACT and our more recent Life member, Mr Greg Moon (All Pest and Termite Solutions) from Sydney. Other welcomed attendees were Mr Chris Mills from Ensytex and Mr Stephen Ware our National Executive Director.

As usual it was full on - with items such as Termites – Existing Buildings, our next Code of Practice and the Standard in relation to Termites in Existing Buildings to be reviewed in March 2015. There was also discussion on the other Codes of Practice, new Australian Standard 3660.1-2014 which you should all have a copy of by now.

Mr Stephen Ware reported that Australia had been voted in as the host nation for FAOPMA 2016.  He indicated that the venue would be on the Gold Coast in Queensland.  The decision was also consistent with the views expressed by members of the 2014 conference that they would prefer Queensland as it was a holiday location.

There are still members out there who have not entered their information on the AEPMA website. I urge you all to do so as you may be missing out on valuable work.

EPA / Workcover: legislation has passed through one House of Parliament in regards to EPA taking over the control of licencing. However, due to the State election, the legislation has not passed the upper house and this had been put back until May 2015.  It could be possible that the changeover might not take place till towards the later end of 2015 with the legislation being enacted and the EPA taking over the control of licencing.

Review of Pest Management Competencies has been completed and after several bureaucratic reviews, we can expect the next Training package to be available later in 2015.  The next PMITAG meeting will be held on 11th March, 2015.

AEPMA Photographic Competition will open in March 2015 and close on 31st March 2016. It was agreed that the competition could part of FAOPMA conference and photographs be displayed there. Keep a look on the website for the entry forms and let’s all get into it!!!

Pest Manager of the Year 2015…. why not try?
The learning experience is well worth the effort.
Look for the entry forms on the website as they become available.

We were pleased to welcome Mr Chris Mills (Ensystex) based in Wollongong as a new member of the AEPMA NSW ACT State Council.  The State Council members expressed their gratitude and thanks to Mr Shayne and Mrs Lynn Reynolds (Pelican Pest Control/ Tea Gardens), who religiously each year invite us to their home town, a beautiful part of the NSW Coast.

It was agreed that the next meeting would be held the week commencing 13th April 2015.  As usual if you would like to discuss an AEPMA or Industry matter with us don’t hesitate to email me at Patrick@austrapest.com.au or contact the National office at info@aepma.com.au
