NSW/ACT Branch Looks Ahead

Posted on: 24/03/2014

The  AEPMA NSW ACT State Council meeting was held in beautiful Hawks Nest at the Oceanside Hawks Nest Motel by invitation of Mr Shayne Reynolds from Pelican Pest Control in Tea Gardens.

Hot topics included the Workcover/ EPA audits which reached have now extended the Hunter, North Coast and many country NSW towns.

Mr Patrick Legey outlined the various AEPMA meetings which were held in Sydney and Hexham in relation to the Work Cover audits. He indicated that some of the audits lasted some three and a half hours and the he believed that most people who had the audits undertaken had passed them. Some people received a notice for improvement with 2-3 weeks allowed for action.

He further indicated that he and the National Executive Director was arranging a  meeting with NSW WorkCover and the Environmental Protection Authority after the audits were complete to obtain some feedback from a whole of industry perspective.

Many other issues other were discussed such as the new website, Codes of Practice, the National Conference in August 2014, proposed changes to the constitution, more recognition of Life members.

A special thank you Shayne and Lyn Reynolds from Pelican Pest Control for their kind friendship and hospitality.

The yearly pilgrimage to this part of NSW is something the State Council members look forward to.  Next year Shayne has promised to organise some fish to surrender on the fishing lines (they did not cooperate this year) after the formal proceedings have finished for the day and we retire to the MV Wally for the traditional harbour cruise on Port Stephens.

For more details about the next NSW meeting please contact Patrick Legey on 0438– 022984 or Email: Patrick@austrapest.com.au
