A quick update from the President's desk.....
Many of you will have noticed that AEPMA has now succumbed to the force of social media and now has its own suite of “social” platforms on Facebook, Linkedin and Twitter.
Hopefully our new breed of pest management professionals will adopt these and use them to both share ideas and find out what’s happening within the Australian Pest Management Industry, and no longer suffer from FOMO (Fear of missing out). Read More

AEPMA is going SOCIAL!
No one can deny that social media is a significant part of everyday life as well as an integral part of marketing in today’s society. A study conducted by the Social Media Examiner showed that in 2014, 92% of marketers place a high value on the use of social media, which has increased from 86% in 2013. At AEPMA we have recently launched our Facebook, Twitter and Linkedin accounts. These platforms will be utilised in conjunction with www.aepma.com.au to keep you up to date with what is happening.

Sundew Starlight Charity Golf Day a SmashingSuccess
On Friday the 30th of May Sundew Solutions held its inaugural Charity Golf Day at Stonecutters Ridge Golf Course. This was the first pest control specific charity golf event to be held of its type.
A field of over 60 players comprising professional pest managers, resellers and other industry representatives attended this event to help raise funds for the Starlight Children’s Foundation. With a trophy presented to the overall winners Michael and Craig from Southpest. Read More

A "new addition" for AEPMA Vice President
The AEPMA National Vice President, Vasili Tsoutouras recently welcomed the birth of his son, Peter Dara Tsoutouras.
Peter was born on 20th June 2014 at 7:25pm, weighing a healthy 7 pounds or 3.175kg and was 49cm.
We congratulate Vasili and Sok on the birth of their son, and welcome this future little “Pest Controller” into the Pest Control community

Judge approves $2.45 million bedbug settlement
A Polk County District Court judge approved a $2.45 million class-action settlement against the operators of two downtown Des Moines apartment towers whose low-income and disabled residents endured an infestation of bedbugs. Read More

Mosquito Control Assocation Australia Conference
7-10 September 2014
The 11th Mosquito Control Association of Australia (MCAA) Conference – “Bringing good science to strategic programs” is shaping up to be an exciting forum. The conference will be held in Mandurah, Western Australia on 7-10 September 2014 at the Sebel Mandurah.
The conference will present an exciting forum for the exchange of ideas and expertise. International and national keynote speakers and discussion groups will ensure that delegates have access to the latest developments on existing and emerging mosquito management technologies, methodologies and options.

Stay safer up there, switch off down here electrical safety campaign
The Queensland Government launched a public awareness campaign in May to boost community awareness of electrical safety risks in ceiling spaces.
The campaign urges homeowners and tradespeople to turn off all the main power switches at the switchboard before heading up into the roof, with the main message, ‘Stay safer up there, switch off down here’. Read more

QLD Branch Breakfast Meeting and Annual General Meeting
The Queensland branch will be holding its AGM and a special breakfast meeting on Wednesday 9th July 2014 at the AEPMA National Office. The morning will commence at 7am with special presentations by Chris Hill from FMC on "Dealing with Hazardous Spills and Incidents" and Terry Ryan on "Economics, taxes and small businesses". This will be followed by the AGM at 8.30am.

Photographic Competition - closing date extended
It's not too late - The AEPMA Photographic Competition closing date has been extended to 31st July 2014 - so there's still time to send in your entries.
Categories include:
(1) Pest Species in the Pest Management Industry
(2) People involved in the Professional Pest Management Industry
(3) Digital Video of a Pest Management situation
