NSW and ACT State Council Update

Posted on: 12/12/2018

A meeting was held at the Agserv office, at 3pm at Silverwater on 19 November 2018.

The meeting was well attended and some good discussions followed on such as possible events in the new year with speakers and presentations. NSW EPA, not much has happened from their or our side maybe it is too close to Christmas.

We have had discussions on AEPMA providing a template log book for trainees, talks about the recent AEPMA National conference on the Gold Coast. This event was the best I have ever attended for a long, long time (great presentations, speakers, learnt so much!). If you didn’t attend, you have missed a lot! Make sure you are at the next one.

We are quietly working on what we think should be improved in the Urban Pest Management Training Package. Don’t forget, it is not a case for a review anymore, but a review of our Training Package so be involved, make your comments! Mr John Murray (Flick - Antiximex) is our AEPMA representative on the review, so any comments please forward it to John or to me (I will make sure it gets to John).

We discussed Kevin Girard’ report on electronic pest devices. These things take work away from Pest Managers and are one of the biggest con jobs. We discussed the Codes of Practice, the Field Biologist course, PMITAG NSW and so much more.

I won’t bore you with too much more except to thanks Eris and his Agserv team for putting on the BBQ at the end of the meeting. Thank you to the people who have attended. I love to see the opposition and my best friends and that is the Pest Management Industry!
Thank you, Michael Harband for your sausage sizzle culinary skills!

I will again take this opportunity on behalf of the AEPMA NSW ACT State Council, to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy, safe and prosperous new year 2018.

I have been very lucky to work with some of the best people in the field of Urban Pest Management and I am so grateful for your contributions. AEPMA looks forward to another very productive new year and I am sure it will be a busy one.
It has been a privilege for me to work with delegates from large companies such as Flick and Rentokil and various small and medium businesses toward a common goal and I look forward another challenging new year.

Patrick Legey, AEPMA NSW & ACT State Council Chairman
